This is a neat little solid bamboo set, imported from Shanghai. Along with 144 tiles there are ample bone betting sticks, a horn Mingg jar with wind disks, a bamboo dice coffin containing
four tiny bone dice, a booklet with rules and a score pad. The Pung Wo Junior set is made by Mei Ren, a huge factory in Shanghai.
I love these little birdies! The #one dot is a bit different and the season and flower tiles are pretty traditional. The box is heavy cardboard with staples (a bit different). The design on the box is a picture of 4 men sitting around a table playing mah jong and that is surrounded by several different hands.
The tiles measure 1 1/8" x 13/16" x 5/16", the designs are lightly carved and hand painted. The box measures 10" x 5 1/2" x 2 1/2". The tri-fold pamphlet measures 7" x 11 ". |
